I am a candidate seeking immigration to Canada but have not been able to meet the desired CRS point criteria owing to the low IELTS Writing score which has been stuck at 5.5. How shall I improve my BAND SCORE to 6.5 or 7
There are many candidates who are in a similar position as you are and thus would advise you not to lose hope. Also, I would like to mention that the written section is usually the most trickier for the candidates have lost touch of writing for quite some time. While many were able to attain scores of 8 and higher in the other sections the written part was just messed up. Here are some ways that might prove to be helpful in an increase of the IELTS Written Scores.
The written section consists of 2 parts Part1 It usually consists of a letter which the examiner accesses on the 4 parts with more than 30 parameters Part 2 The second Task is also rated on the same parameters and the candidates have to ensure all the points in the writing section
1) Task Achievement 2)Structure and Flow 3)Vocabulary and Accuracy 4)Grammar
1 Task Achievement In order to achieve a high band score in the area, the candidate’s purpose of writing the task is clear, the tone is consistent and the length of the task and the format is maintained in a standard format scores the candidate high band scores. It is better to divide the letter in bullets as it provides a well-presented look
2) Structure and Flow All the high scoring tasks require paraphrasing. The task represents the ideas to be organized and developed logically. Staggard representation of ideas leads to fewer scores. One should use connecting and linking words for high scores. In order to score high, the candidates should avoid the repetition of words. Use of synonyms is highly recommended
3)Vocabulary Range and Precision
Candidates are advised to use a range of Phrases, Collocations, and Idioms frequently in the tasks. Use of the above with precision is bound to fetch one great marks While using the idioms and phrases one should ensure that they connect with the sentences and the word form is correct. Spellings and Not Over-writing are things one should pay special attention to.
4)Grammar and Precision For high scores use of a range of sentence types such as Simple, Compound, or complex, is highly recommended Also complex sentences with clauses, use of correct articles, accurate tenses and connection of Subjects and Verbs along with Narration or Singular and Plurals all contribute towards a high BAND SCORE.
