    You need to appear for the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services Examination or the HAS and opt for the position of Deputy Collector. Besides the above position, the officers are appointed as Sub Divisional Magistrate in their first posting. These officers in due course of time (14 years ) are promoted to the rank of IAS officers. Usually, these officers retire at the rank of Secretary of a ministry in any state government.
