Question: There are candidates who in spite of putting in all the hard work fail, the result takes a major impact in the life of aspirants. What are the opportunities available in the event the candidate doesn’t make through the civil services?

    Every year Lacs of aspirants appear for the coveted HAS or Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services Exam with only a few get selected for the coveted position. The exam is considered one of the popular and challenging of the state civil services exam and the candidates burn the midnight oil to study for the exam. So one can imagine a failure after putting in such a high effort can take a toll on the life of the candidate . But hold on, there are many alternative career choices available that candidates can pursue based on their respective interests in case they don’t crack the UPSC exam.
    The difficulty can be known from the fact that lakhs aspirants enrolled for the exam, out of which a thousand cracked the exam by just a few marks.

    Here are the alternatives available in case one doesn’t make it through the Elite Exam
    1 Be a mentor for other aspirants
    2 Join a PSU or appear for GATE Exam
    3 One can appear for Banking Exams such as PO and RBI
    4 Government Jobs exams like preparing for CSE papers, State PSC exams, SSC CGL, banking exams, teaching (TET), etc
    5 Other Exams such as MBA, MTech, or other post-graduation programs.
    6 Other high profile careers having similar kind of Exams

    But a word of advice for all the candidates who didn’t clear the CSE Exams should not feel discouraged for it provides them with time and chance to identify their weaknesses and appear for the CSE with more confidence again.
