The first and Foremost step for preparing for the UGC-NET Exam is understanding the Pattern and the Syllabus.
The UGC NET JRF is conducted in 2 stages
1. Paper 1:The Paper 1 is related to questions on General Aptitude, Quantitative Aptitude, Polity and Constitution, Environment and Teaching Aptitude. The paper is much easier to crack and the candidate stands a better chance at scoring good Marks.
2. Paper 2:The Paper 2 is entirely based on the chosen subject and the syllabus is of the level of Graduation and Post Graduation. Most of the students who have cracked the examination before have suggested a time frame of 3 months to crack the examination. These 3months can be segregated into 2 months of Preparation followed by 1 month for Mock Tests.
Strategies for the Preparation of the UGC-NET
Paper 1:
There are 10 topics that constitute the Paper 1 of the UGC Exam. Ideally, the syllabus of Paper 1 can be completed in a period of 1 month, considering you have 3 days to prepare for each topic. The best approach, however, is to study the topic followed by the practice for the same in the form of the Mock Tests. While appearing for the Tests one should ensure that last 10 years questions are covered as it provides the student with the understanding of important topics from where the questions are frequently asked. The best approach is to note down the questions where one gets confused and follow it up by guidance from a mentor or any faculty. This approach would help the students to strengthen the concepts for the final exam. The key to this strategy is working on your respective weaknesses and turning into your strengths over a given period of time.
Paper 2:
Similar Strategy should be Applied to Paper 2 where the candidate is tested for his subject skills. Ensure to spend at least 4-5 hours of preparation every day. During this time the candidate should study his course thoroughly and prepare short notes that come in handy as the exam draws near. Again the daily study should be followed by testing one’s skills on the topics through previous years questions asked. One should follow a strategy of preparation of study material from strong to weak. The easy and strong subjects should be covered first followed by difficult subjects. The reason to follow this approach is that there is no sectional or subject-wise cutoff in NET Examination, you just need to maximize your score.
Mock Tests:
Ideally, these Mock Tests shall help one to assess the candidates current level of preparation and the level required to pass the examination. Also, it helps you figure out your weak areas, that one needs to work on from scratch. Referring to a teacher or a mentor helps the candidate to remove their doubts and be in a position to attempt the UGC-NET Exam confidently.
