According to some students, the State Civil Services Exams like PCS are tougher as they are based on facts and figures while the UPSC exam is more focussed on concepts. Thus to attempt the UPSC questions the student is expected to understand the concept and infer from it in order to come at the answer. And unlike the UPSC examination where the student has an idea of important topics, the information about the state is vast and unending which makes it all the more difficult. Having said that it is worth mentioning that hard work is the key to acing an exam. All you require is self-confidence and faith in your abilities. Though the syllabus for UPSC and PCS are both elaborative, however, the UPSC provides you with the liberty of presenting your views in a simple language while in the case of PCS exam it is required that the candidates present the points in a complex manner and most often one gets confused how to merge the points.

Having said that you need to be determined, focussed and strong-willed for the examination. The failure rate is high but with a sincere effort, you can ace the exam.
