For the General Category Candidates

A minimum of 55% aggregate in Master’s Degree or Equivalent Degree is required.

For the ST/SC/OBC/ PWD Candidates

A minimum of 50% aggregate in Master’s Degree or Equivalent Degree is required.

For Ph.D. Degree holders,

The Ph.D. degree holders who have completed their Master’s level examination by 19th September, 1991 (this date is irrespective of the date of their declaration of result) are eligible for further relaxation of 5% in their aggregate marks for appearing in UGC NET Exam, which is you will get a relaxation from 55% to 50%. This means with 50% in aggregate you are eligible for NET.

For final year Master Degree student,

A final year Master Degree student or a student who is waiting for the result of Master Degree is eligible to take up the UGC NET Exam.

However, these students will only be regarded for the admission of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship when they will get the Master Degree with the above mentioned percentage criteria in their aggregate.
