In the arts, which subjects are the best for HCS Exam?

HCS exam is conducted in 3 stages mainly (Prelims, Mains, Personality Test) where lakhs of individuals appear every year for just a handful thousand positions in the administration.  The Mains stage of the HCS exam expects a  candidate to choose optional subjects and selection of the optional subject can make a lot of difference. The subject chosen should be such, that it should high scoring and have a higher success rate in HCS Some of the factors that should be considered in the selection of the subject for the UPSC exam are as follows:

a) Syllabus: Candidates should read the syllabus carefully and evaluate which subject is he comfortable with. It is always better to ask a mentor or a friend who has appeared in the exam before. A miss in the judgement of syllabi can always lead to faltering in the examination. The exhaustive demands of the exam always require the candidates to be well versed in the subject and expect candidates original views rather than rehearsed thoughts.

b) Reference Study Material: Candidates should ensure that reference material is available in abundance. There is no use of selecting a subject where the reference material is not available much.

c) Time: Also one of the important factors in the selection of the subject is the available time at hand.If you don’t have much time at hand selection of easily understood subject such as Psychology, Sociology and History always are helpful and if you have a little more time other difficult subjects can be considered provided you have a passion for it.
