HP India invites applications from post-matric school students and undergraduates belonging to the underprivileged sections of the society for the HP Udaan Scholarship Program. Spread across Pan-India targeted at providing scholarships to students from three different categories of strata of students like Class 10th passed students, Undergraduate Students and Diploma/ITI, students. HP Udaan Scholarship Program will provide 750 scholarships this year, of which 50% are reserved for girl students. 1. ENHANCING THE SCOPE

Spread across PAN INDIA is one of the biggest indicators of a program’s intended impact is its scale and reach and is aimed to reach every nook and corner of the country. The program over the next 5 years shall target more than 1300 students across the length and breadth of the country will receive scholarship support for up to 3 years under the scholarship program. Each scholar will receive an award of up to INR 30,000 to pursue their education.

2. TARGETING AT THE RISK DEMOGRAPHIC

The scholarship program is extremely value driven in the choice of the targeted demographic . The scholarship has been carefully selected taking into account the low GER (Gross Enrollment Ratio) of students in India in higher education. The statistics have revealed that the maximum dropouts, in fact, are seen after from standard 9 onward i.e as soon as the free primary education ends which later becomes one of the biggest contributors to India’s high unemployment rate.( since a high percentage of India’s youth are forced to drop out due to financial constraints and miss out on acquiring employable skills.).HP through the provision of scholarship at the crucial 10th grade aims to rectify this imbalance and give an opportunity to young students to transform their lives through education.

3. SPECIAL IMPETUS ON GIRL CHILD EDUCATION

It is always been a powerful agenda from the numerous education driven government campaigns driven towards Girl Child Education. Furthering the objective to provide opportunities to an at-risk demographic, HP aims at granting half of the scholarships exclusively for girl students. The role of the girls enrolled in higher education is abysmally low. Girl students are often the first to drop out of pursuing further education when faced with financial constraints. With 50% of the scholarships set to be awarded to girl students, the HP Udaan Scholarship aims to correct the skewed gender ratio in higher education.

4. MULTIPLE OPTIONS

The main objective of the PAN India based scholarship program by HP help students acquire employable skills, it provides them with multiple options to receive financial support as per their academic aspirations.In order to do so there are 3 categories as mentioned above in the article under which a student can apply.
I) Those requiring assistance to finish their schooling post standard 10
II) Those looking to pursue an ITI or diploma course for up to two-years
III) Those who are seeking higher education after class 12 in the form of a 3-yr bachelor’s degree. The scholarship supports the selected students for the entire duration of their studies renewable each year of their intended course for up to three years.

By providing multiple pathways to benefit from the scholarship, the program seeks to cast a wider net while staying true to the targeted demographic.

BENEFITS ASSOCIATED WITH HP UDAAN PROGRAM

A total of 750 scholarships will be provided to selected applicants based on the following details:

• 1-Year Scholarships for Diploma/ITI students: 275 scholarships worth INR 20,000 each
• 2-Year Scholarships for students enrolled in Class 11: 250 scholarships worth INR 20,000 per year each
• 3-Year Scholarships for Undergraduate students: 225 scholarships worth INR 30,000 per year each
• Note: 50% of scholarships in each category are reserved for girl students
