1. Dress accordingly:

Men should dress up like they are going on a date. Shave properly. Wear a dark coloured trouser and a light coloured shirt. Throw in a neck tie or a blazer/sweater according to the season polish those shoes and go easy on the perfume , you do not want to smell like a flower shop. For ladies, tone down on the make-up and jewellery, the lesser the better. Wear something appropriate. In short “dress to impress”

2. Understand the job:

Research about the organisation you are interviewing for, the kind of work they are doing, how do they work? Learn about the job requirement, and prepare accordingly. Give priority to the organisation goals and the latest happenings.

3. Attitude matters:

Smile, be confident and maintain eye contact. Give a firm handshake and maintain the right posture. Even if you’re asked questions you have no idea about – Don’t panic. Admit that you don’t know. Interviewers love a honest answer. Be bold and confident. Take everything in your stride.

4. Be spot on:

be specific, give data to prove your statements. do not give vague statements . e.g. “I have a GPA of 8.7” is much better than mentioning “I am a top scorer”.

5. Ask questions:

an honest question is always appreciated. But that does not mean that you are to ask irrelevant questions. Ask highly relevant questions. Something like what your responsibilities in the organization will be. Be careful not to go over board by asking too many/irrelevant questions.

Heed to the above mentioned points and the interview will turn out to be a wonderful learning experience.. Just keep your resume updated and in a proper format.
